Durga Puja At Halley Goswami's Alipore House

 Halley Goswami's puja at his home in Alipore is completely different from others. Halley made the Maa Durga idol himself. He also worships himself.


Puja is done in this house in the philosophy of Ramakrishna Math Mission. Halley is a lawyer. But voluntarily chose the artist's life. His passion is reviving the lost art of India and exploring the culture and history of Bengal. Durga Pratima was created at the whim of his mind during his school life by filling this addiction. From then on, the puja started at Halley's house.

This puja is done in accordance with all the rules of the scriptures. Brahmins come for Chandipatha to recite the Vedas of the Veda Vidyalaya. Water from the Saraswati river at Badrinath, water from the Brahmaputra river, dew water to water from all the shrines in India are brought for the mother's great bath in pujas. Apart from this, ivory clay and clay from the door of the king's house were collected. Kumari Puja is performed on Ashtami day. On the tenth day, the mother is bid farewell offering bhog comprising of Panta Vaat, Kachur Shaak, Chaltar Tok, Bari.

Not only local people but also tourists from America and Russia come to see this puja. Apart from the luxury and pomp on a small scale, Halley's Durga Puja has been going on for 22 years with great devotion.
