Dipa Karmakar is taking the training in gymnastics since she was 6 years old. Bisbeshwar Nandi is the first coach of Dipa Karmakar.
In 2007 Dipa Karmakar won at the Junior Nationals in Jalpaiguri and since then, the golden girl has won 77 medals including 67 gold, in state, national and international championships.

In the 2011 National Games of India, Dipa Karmakar represented Tripura and won five golds in floor, vault, all around, balance beam and uneven bars.
In 2014 Commonwealth Games, Dipa Karmakar won a bronze medal in the women's vault final,
In 2014 Asian Games, Dipa Karmakar finished fourth in the vault final.
In 2015 Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships, Dipa Karmakar won the bronze in women's vault while finishing 8th in the balance beam event.
In October 2015, Dipa Karmakar became the first ever Indian to qualify for the final stage of the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
In Rio 2016 Olympic, Dipa Karmakar became the first ever female gymnast from India to qualify for the Olympics and she has reached the final in Women's vault event.
