The coming West Bengal state engineering and medical
joint entrance examination 2016 (WB JEE 2016) is likely to be held on a single day.
Previously it was two days exam.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board is
trying complete the JEE 2016 in one day as it foresees logistical problems in conducting
the exam over two days as West Bengal Assembly elections 2016 could be held
during that period.
A board member said "Finding examination venues
would be tough when school and college buildings are requisitioned for
elections. We might not have the required halls for two days. Therefore, we are
trying to hold the exam on a single day. If we can do that, it would entail
police deployment for exam duty for just a day. At election time, getting
police cover for two days would prove difficult."
Normally more than one lakh students appear in JEE every
year which is generally held around the third week of April.
If the exam is held in a single day, it will be very
tough for the students appearing in both Engineering and Medical as they have
to write at least three papers in a day.
