2023 Admission to B.A. / B.Sc. – Honours and General Courses in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir Belur

Online application for admission in B.A. and B.Sc. courses in both Honours and General stream will start from 31 May 2014 and will continue till 18 June 2014.

Candidates can fill up any number of application forms following the eligibility criteria. After filling up application online, take a print out of the application form and it should be submitted to college office along with Rs. 200 for each form. Candidates who have passed in 2014 or 2013 can only apply.

Details of Admission Test


English Honours

  1. Full marks for the written test : 40 (2 hours)

  2. Comprehension and Vocabulary [MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) type] :20 marks (10 questions of 2 marks each. For each wrong answer, -1 will be awarded).

  3. Essay : 20 marks (one out of five topics on issues of general interest)


[Note: Essays of only those candidates who secure 10 or more marks in the MCQ round will be evaluated.]

  1. Criterion for preparing preliminary merit list of the candidates : Admission Test Marks (40)

  2. Students selected in the preliminary merit list will have to appear for a Viva Voce for which the total marks are 10.

  3. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (40) + Viva Voce (10) = 50 marks.

  4. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)


 

Bengali Honours

  1. Full marks for the test : 50 (1 hours 30 mts)

  2. Candidates will be tested in simple Bengali composition – essay writing, amplification and substance writing.

  3. There will be an interview of the candidates selected only on the basis of the written test.

  4. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (50) + Viva Voce (10) = 60 marks.

  5. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)


 

Sanskrit Honours

  1. Full marks for the test : 50 (1 hours 30 mts)

  2. Candidates will be tested in simple translation from Bengali / English to Sanskrit; basic Sanskrit grammar and common questions on Sanskrit literature.

  3. There will be an interview of the candidates selected only on the basis of the written test.

  4. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (50) + Viva Voce (10) = 60 marks.

  5. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)


 

History Honours

  1. Full marks for the test : 20 (45 mts)

  2. Written Examination :

  3. Essay (400 words) [in English or Bengali] : 20

  4. Candidates will be primarily selected on the basis of a total marks of 40 (written test 20 + marks secured in HS History reduced to (20).

  5. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + marks secured in HS History reduced to (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 50 marks.

  6. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)


 

Political Science

  1. Full marks for the test : 20 (45 mts)

  2. Essay : 20 marks. It can be written in English / Bengali.

  3. Candidates will be finally selected after the viva voce to be held on the same day just after the written test. Viva voce marks 10.

  4. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 30 marks.

  5. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)


 

Philosophy

  1. Full marks for the test : 20 (45 mts)

  2. Essay : 20 marks. It can be written in English / Bengali.

  3. Candidates will be finally selected after the viva voce to be held on the same day just after the written test. Viva voce marks 10.

  4. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 30 marks.

Admission Test


Physics Honours

  1. Full marks for the written test : 50 (2 hours)

  2. There will be 25 questions covering the whole of H.S [XI & XII] Course, and majority of these will be problem-oriented. Appreciable number of questions will be set from XI syllabus also. Each question will carry 2 marks.

  3. The final selection will be done on the basis of the marks secured by the student in the written test. An interview / counseling will be conducted for these students.

  4. Total seats in the subject = 20 (approximately)


 

Chemistry Honours

  1. Full marks for the written test : 50 (2 hours)

  2. There shall be 50 MCQ type questions of 1 mark each covering the syllabus taught both in class XI and XII standards. There will be no negative marking.

  3. Candidates have to select the correct choice by black/ blue pen only in the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) to be provided during the written test. Marking should be dark and should completely fill one blank box against the corresponding question number. Incomplete filling or multiple filling of boxes will reject the answer to that question. Once an answer is marked in OMR, there is no scope to alter the choice. Doing rough work or using erasers, blades, whiteners etc on the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) is strictly prohibited.Provide one space each between First name, Middle name and Last name in OMR.

  4. A merit list of 100-120 students will be prepared on this basis : 50 (admission test) + 25 (from aggregate) + 25 (from H.S. Chemistry marks) = 100.

  5. The final selection will be done after adding the viva voce marks (10) to the marks secured as per the details mentioned above.

  6. Total seats in the subject = 26 (approximately)


 

Mathematics Honours

  1. Full marks for the written test : 50 (2 hours)

  2. There shall be 25 MCQ type questions covering the syllabus taught both in class XI and XII standards, each carrying 2 marks. For each wrong answer, -1 will be awarded.

  2. There shall be two types of questions : (a) 50 MCQ each of 1 marks. These questions will cover the entire syllabus taught in class XI and some portions of class XII as mentioned herewith : Virus, Bacteria, Photosynthesis, Growth, Blood & Immunology, Digestion & Metabolism.

  3. Negative Marking- at the rate of 1/3 for each wrong answer.

  4. Candidates have to select the correct choice by black/ blue pen only in the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) to be provided during the written test. Marking should be dark and should completely fill one blank box against the corresponding question number. Incomplete filling or multiple filling of boxes will reject the answer to that question. Once an answer is marked in OMR, there is no scope to alter the choice. Doing rough work or using erasers, blades, whiteners etc on the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) is strictly prohibited.Provide one space each between First name, Middle name and Last name in OMR.

Computer Science Honours

  1. Full marks of the written test : 50 (1 hour)

  2. There shall be 25 MCQ questions of 2 marks each, covering Mathematics syllabus taught up to XII standard. Each wrong answer will result in (-1). Calculator is not allowed. Rough work should be done in the limited space provided.

  3. Candidates have to select the correct choice by black/ blue pen only in the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) to be provided during the written test. Marking should be dark and should completely fill one blank box against the corresponding question number. Incomplete filling or multiple filling of boxes will reject the answer to that question. Once an answer is marked in OMR, there is no scope to alter the choice. Doing rough work or using erasers, blades, whiteners etc on the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) is strictly prohibited.Provide one space each between First name, Middle name and Last name in OMR.

  2. Candidates will be tested in [Higher Secondary] Mathematics (30) and English (essay writing) (20) = 50 marks.

  3. A preliminary merit list will be prepared on this basis : 50 (admission test) + 50 (reduced from H.S. aggregate) = 100

  4. The final selection will be done on the following basis : 50 (admission test) + 50 (reduced from H.S. aggregate)+ Viva voce (25) = 125

  5. Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately)
