West Bengal joint entrance examination board has decided to introduce many changes in JEE 2013. The first change is that there will be separate physics and chemistry papers in JEE 2013. In 2012, candidates had to answer Mathematics of 100 marks and a combined paper of Physics and Chemistry in which both the subjects had 50 marks each. In 2013 West Bengal JEE,Mathematics paper will be of 100 marks as previous years and Physics and Chemistry separate papers will carry 75 marks each.
In previous years state JEE examinations it was observed that students were paying more attention on Mathematics and good marks in Mathematics but poor marks in Physica and Chemistry enabled them to get chance in better colleges. An engineering student should have same proficiency in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This fact has compelled the West Bengal joint entrance examination board to make the changes.
There is another change in the rule of West Bengal JEE from 2013. JEE examination consists of multiple-choice questions with negative marks for wrong answers. From this year, any candidate who will score negative marks in any subject will not be included in merit list.
The timing and duration of West Bengal JEE 2013 will also be changed. The examination will start at 9.30am and students will get one hour for each of Physics and Chemistry.
