In 2021 assembly election, Swapan Debnath of Trinamool Congress won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Rajib Kumar Bhowmick of BJP. Swapan Debnath got 1,05,698 votes, Rajib Kumar Bhowmick got 88,268 votes.
In 2016 assembly election, Swapan Debnath of Trinamool Congress won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Abhijit Bhattacharya of INC. Swapan Debnath got 1,04,398 votes, Abhijit Bhattacharya got 66,732 votes.

In 2011 assembly election, Swapan Debnath of Trinamool Congress won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Aleaya Begam of CPI (M). Swapan Debnath got 86,039 votes, Aleaya Begam got 70,181 votes and Mahadeb Basak of BJP got 10,765 votes.
