 Garh Panchkotis located at the foot hills of Panchkot in Purulia district of West Bengal.The Panchkot Giri is about 2100 ft in altitude and 18 Sq km in stretch. Medicinal Plants and herbs like Amloki, Haritoki, Bahera, Kalmegh, Satamul, Anantamul, Sarpagandha, Jastimadhu, Bel, Neem are widespread in this area. Garh Panchkot bears the ancient history of ‘Bargi attack’ in West Bengal. During 1740, Maratha dacoits known as Bargi started looting West Bengal. The Bargis attacked Garh Panchkot also and the looting continues for ten years.Panchkot Palace was attacked and destroyed by Bargis.
