University Institute of Technology was established in 1998 and this engineering college is under direct control of Burdwan University. One thing should be kept in mind that this is not a government engineering college, UIT or University Institute of Technology is a private engineering college located at golapbaug of Burdwan town in Burdwan district.
This engineering college is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Initially this engineering college started with three graduate engineering courses but afterwards it has increased streams in this college.

Admission is done through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and All India Entrance Examination. Lateral admission for diploma students is also possible.

How to reach the College
From Burdwan railway station it will take hardly 10 minutes to reach the engineering college campus via bus. From Burdwan railway station town service buses moving towards Golapbaug are available and the stoppage where to get down is also Golapbaug. From the bus stoppage, it is a one minute walking distance. One can reach the college campus via rickshaw also.
