About the Engineering College
Govt. College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology or GCE&CT is still popular as College of Ceramic Technology. This is one of the old Government Engineering College and the only College in West Bengal which provides course in Ceramic Technology. The institute was established in 1941 with the aim of providing technical manpower for the Ceramic and Allied Industries.
In 2000 and 2001, B. E. in Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) were introduced in the college.
This Engineering College provides all necessary facilities to it’s students, staring from highly qualified faculties, library, laboratory etc. This institute has it’s own placement cell which ensures 100% recruitment for Ceramic Technology students, IT and CSE students have also achieved commendable success in recent years.
The college is under the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of W.B.

B.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) – 40 seats
B.Tech (Information Technology) – 40 seats
B.Tech (Ceramic Technology) – 40 seats
B.Tech passed students in Ceramic Technology can avail the scope of M.Tech (Ceramic Engineering / Technology) from the same institute. Total intake is 18 students.
