St James’ Church in Kolkata of West Bengal


 This church was established in 1862 and it is the largest Protestant church in Kolkata. St James’ Church with double turrets is located at 167, A J C Bose Road, Kolkata – 700014. This church is associated with many social activities like Sunday classes, Bible study and Prayer meetings. Two schools are under this church, St. James’ School for boys and Pratt Memorial School for girls.

St. Paul's Cathedral in Kolkata of West Bengal

St. Paul's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral constructed on 1847. St. Paul's Cathedral is situated near Vitoria Memorial.  The construction of this church was started on 1839 and took eight years to complete it. Bishop Daniel Wilson was the key man behind the construction of this church. Beautiful architecture of this church attracts tourists here. The 201 ft. high church was badly affected by two massive earthquakes. The tower of St. Paul's Cathedral was badly affected by an earthquake before 1934 and again after renovation, the church was again affected by another earthquake in 1934. 

Visiting time of Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Kolkata, is from 9:00 am to 12:00 Noon and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on all working days. Sunday timings are different. During Christmas of every year, people of all castes come in Saint Paul’s Cathedral to witness the midnight mass.  On Christmas day, St. Paul's Cathedral is decorated with Christmas trees and Christmas lights. 

St. John’s Church in Kolkata of West Bengal


St. John’s Church is located at Council House Street near B.B.D. Bagh. The St. John's Church of Kolkata is the first Anglican Church of India and the church was designed in the style of St. Martin-in-the-Fields church in London which is considered as the most beautiful church in the world. St. John's Church was constructed in the year 1787 and the founder of this church is Job Charnock, the founder of Kolkata. Job Charnok was buried here after his death. 

St. John's Church is also famous as stone church as stones from different locations are used in the floor of the church.  St. John’s Church contains the sculpture of Job Charnock. Tombs of Charnock's daughters are also in this church. Every year during Christmas, people from different locations of the city and other parts come to St. John's Church of Kolkata. 

Armenian Church in Kolkata of West Bengal


Armenian Church is located in the Armenian Street near Howrah Bridge. Armenian Church was built on 1764. Armenians came to Kolkata for trade purpose and started staying here. In the course of time they feel the need of their prayer place which motivated them to built the church. After independence, the most of the Armenians left Kolkata. Few remaining Armenians can be still seen in this Armenian Church. During every Christmas, Armenian Church decorates itself with Christmas trees and Christmas lights. People from different parts of the city irrespective of their castes gather here on Christmas day.
