Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee a Marxist Indian politician. He was the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 6 November 2000 to 13 May 2011. Political Career of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee completed his graduation in 1964 and after that he joined CPI (M) as a grass root member of the party. In Food movement in West Bengal he took active part and he became the state secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation, presently known as Democratic Youth Federation of India. Gradually Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee came in the notice of Late Promod Dasgupta and got guidance from him. Promod Dasgupta had a great expectation from Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
In 1977, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee contested from Cossipore assembly seat for the first time and was elected. In 1977, Left Front formed the state government and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee got them charge of the ministry of information and culture. In 1982 state assembly election Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee lost from Cossipore constituency and since then he is contesting from Jadavpur assembly seat. In 2011 assembly election, he lost from this constituency otherwise he was elected from Jadavpur in all assembly elections.
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 13 May of 2011. During his time incidences of Singur, Nandigram etc rocked Bengal politics.
