St. Xavier’s College is a Christian Minority Higher Educational Institution established in 1860 by a Catholic Minority Religious Body, The Society of Jesus.  St. Xavier’s College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and admission is provided to all students without considering their caste, creed and nationality. Though it is an English medium college, students from other medium schools are given opportunities to develop their knowledge in Spoken English. The college provides financial assistance such as scholarships; book bank facility etc. for students who are talented with taking into account the caste or creed to which they belong. The college hours are divided into three shifts. St. Xavier’s College enjoys the power to set its syllabus, conduct its examinations and publish results.
