On 8th July, 1955 Shri Sikhshayatan College was established by the Marwaris especially for girls. Shri Sikhshayatan College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It is governed by the Sikshaytan Foundation for imparting education to the society. It follows the guidance of Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India for being a linguistic minority group. Its main objective is to provide education to the girls of the Marwari Community. But due to its popularity and excellent performance it has been now offering education to all girls without taking into consideration their caste, creed or religion.
