Few words about the Kenduli mela
Bengal is a place where innumerable number of fairs and festivals take place. One of the most famous festivals Kenduli Mela is well known as a festival of Bauls. It attracts the tourists from different parts of the world. It is celebrated on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The Birbhum district in West Bengal is known as the home to many Bauls. The festival offers oppurtunities to the Bauls to perform music at their best. On this occasion the Bauls are dressed in saffron attire, plays musical instrument ‘ektara’ and sings songs on life’s philosophy.
Location and Date of Kenduli mela
Kenduli Mela is held in the month of January at Kenduli, Birdhum District in West Bengal for three days. The mela is held from 14thto 16th January with Makar Sankranti which pulls crowd from all over the world.
How to reach
One can reach the mela through Panagarh-Morgram Highway, turning left a little after Ilambazar.
