Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College has been established in 1961 and it is a premier Engineering College in North Bengal of West Bengal. The College is situated at the outskirt of Jalpaiguri Town. Previously this college was affiliated to North Bengal university but presently Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
This engineering college offers both Bachelor degrees (B.Tech) and Master degrees (M.Tech) in Engineering.
This engineering college has five hostels to accommodate its students. Among these hostels, four are for boys and one is for girls.
