Flora and Fauna at Darjeeling


Sal, oak, temperate alpine forests are found here. Demand for wood, fuel and timber and increasing pollution has led to deforestation in this area. Birds like ducks, teals, plovers, gulls, florican, herons and other migratory birds are found here. Animals including rhinoceros, elephant, tiger, leopard, hog deer and red pandas are found here. The region has temperate climate and heavy rainfall occurs here leading to landslides.
