Today Calcutta high court scrapped the West Bengal state government legislation to return 400 acres of land to unwilling farmers at Singur. The unwilling farmers had given their land for proposed Tata Motors' Nano car project at Singur. Total 997 acres of land were acquired by Tata Motors for their Nano car project but the agitation of unwilling farmers led by Trinamool Congress and other parties forced Tatas to move to Gujarat with their Nano project.
Verdict from Calcutta high court came today before 11.00 am that few sections of the act are unconstitutional.
The state government may appeal to Supreme court against the order of Calcutta high court.
