In 2021 assembly election, Bikram Chandra Pradhan of AITC won Dantan assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Shaktipada Nayak of  BJP. Bikram Chandra Pradhan got 95,209 votes and Shaktipada Nayak got 94,586 votes.

In 2016 assembly election, Bikram Chandra Pradhan of AITC won Dantan assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Sisir Kumar Patra of  CPI (M). Bikram Chandra Pradha got 95,641 votes, Sisir Kumar Patra got 66,381 votes.

In 2011 assembly election, Arun Mahapatra of CPI won Dantan assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Shaibal Giri of Trinamool Congress. Arun Mahapatra got 79,118 votes, Shaibal Giri got 74,468 votes and Shailendra Jana of BJP got 3,909 votes.
