In 2021 assembly election,  Birbaha Hansda of Trinamool Congress won Jhargram assembly seat defeating her nearest rival Sukhamoy Satpathy of BJP.  Birbaha Hansda got 109,493 votes, Sukhamoy Satpathy got 71,253 votes.

In 2016 assembly election, Sukumar Hansda of Trinamool Congress won Jhargram assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Chunibala Hansda of Jharkhand Party (Naren). Sukumar Hansda got 99,233 votes, Chunibala Hansda got 44,005 votes.

In 2011 assembly election, Sukumar Hansda of Trinamool Congress won Jhargram assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Amar Basu of CPI (M). Sukumar Hansda got 69,464 votes, Amar Basu got 54,191votes and Chhatradhar Mahata, an independent candidate got 20,037 votes.
