In 2021 assembly election, Tapan Chatterjee of Trinamool Congress won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Gobardhan Das of BJP. Tapan Chatterjee got 92421 votes and Gobardhan Das 85,715 votes.
In 2016 assembly election, Pradip Saha of CPI (M) won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Tapan Chatterjee of Trinamool Congress. Pradip Saha got 84549 votes and Tapan Chatterjee got 81,721 votes.

In 2011 assembly election, Tapan Chatterjee of Trinamool Congress won Purbasthali Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Pradip Saha of CPI (M). Tapan Chatterjee got 71,107 votes, Pradip Saha got 68,967 votes and Swapan Bhattachrya of BJP got 17,222 votes.
