2019 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Trinamool Congress. Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar of Trinamool Congress defeated her nearest rival Dr. Mrinal Kanti Debnath of BJP. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar got 6,48,444 votes and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Dr. Mrinal Kanti Debnath got 5,38,275 votes.

2014 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Trinamool Congress. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar of Trinamool Congress defeated her nearest rival Dr. Mortoza Hossain of Forward Bloc. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar got 525,387 votes and won the BarasatLok Sabha constituency seat. Dr. Mortoza Hossain got 352,246 votes.

 2009 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Trinamool Congress. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar of Trinamool Congress defeated her nearest rival Sudin Chattopadhyay of Forward Bloc. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar got 458,988 votes and won the BarasatLok Sabha constituency seat. Sudin Chattopadhyay got 438,510 votes.

2004 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Subrata Bose of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja of Trinamool Congress and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Subrata Bose got 45.13% of votes and Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja got 44.07% of votes.

1999 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Trinamool Congres. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Saral Deb of Forward Bloc and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja got 50.28% of votes and Saral Deb got 40.88% of votes.

1998 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Trinamool Congress. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Chitra Ghosh of Forward Bloc and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja got 47.13% of votes and Chitra Ghosh got 40.83% of votes.

1996 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja of Trinamool Congress and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Chitta Basu got 46.24% of votes and Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panja got 42.86% of votes.

1991 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Ashok Krishna Dutta of Congress and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Chitta Basu got 43.60% of votes and Ashok Krishna Dutta got 35.84% of votes.

1989 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Tarun Kanti Ghosh of Congress and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Chitta Basu got 50.52% of votes and Tarun Kanti Ghosh got 44.38% of votes.

1984 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Congress. Tarun Kanti Ghosh of Congress defeated his nearest rival Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Tarun Kanti Ghosh got 49.46% of votes and Chitta Basu got 47.64% of votes.

1980 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Harasit Ghosh of Congress and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Chitta Basu got 53.03% of votes and Harasit Ghosh got 36.30% of votes.

1977 Lok Sabha election result was in favour of Forward Bloc. Chitta Basu of Forward Bloc defeated his nearest rival Ranen Sen of CPI and won the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency seat. Chitta Basu got 56.15% of votes and Ranen Sen got 24.23% of votes.
